List Of Low Carbohydrate Foods

Carbohydrates make up the three main sources of energy for the body, together with protein and fat. Thus, a healthy level of carbohydrate in the daily diet is essential for one's well-being. Although a healthy amount of carbohydrates in the diet is essential, certain individuals may choose to reduce their carbohydrate intake by restricting their diet to a list of low carbohydrate foods.Various reasons including weight control, obesity treatments and even diabetes may contribute to this decision.

There are many benefits for one's health by choosing one's diet from a list of low carbohydrate foods. Aiding any weight loss activities by reducing one's daily calorie intake would probably be the most obvious one.Moreover by choosing his/her diet from a list of low carbohydrate foods, an individual ensures a steady supply of proteins and vitamins to the body as many of these foods are rich sources of proteins and vitamins. Thus, it is particularly recommended for people suffering from health problems such as heart disease.

Certain groups of foods including high protein, vegetable, fats and fruits are featured in a list of low carbohydrate foods. Meats such as chicken, beef and ham, trout,salmon and shrimp for fish, nuts, for instance walnuts and macademia, cheese and eggs make up the high protein category of the list of low carbohydrate foods. Although meat is considered healthy under this category, processed or canned meats are not recommended. In addition, the consumption of nuts such as peanuts and buckwheat is also discouraged.

Vegetables would probably be the healthiest category in a list of low carbohydrate foods as vegetables are rich sources of vitamins, while being low on carbohydrates. Although vegetables which contain a considerable amount of carbohydrateses such as carrots, manioc, potatoes and sweet potatoes should be avoided, celery, lettuce, onion, cucumber, broccoli and cabbages are highly recommended.

Fats also are an important part of one's diet but should be taken in moderation. Oils including olive, canola, coconut and walnut and products such as cream butter make up the oils or fats category in a list of low carbohydrate foods. Moreover, fruits for example, apples, oranges, grapes, and berries such as raspberries and strawberries should also be added to one's diet. However, dried fruit and fruit juices are not usually recommended.

Probably the healthiest decision one would ever make would be to choose his/her diet from a a list of low carbohydrate foods. However, one should always remember to balance one's diet, so as not to leave out the other required nutrients.
